Mead Mishaps Series is a three-book collection by Kimberly Lemming, told in a humorous first-person style and centred on adventure-led stories. Across the set, characters are pulled into chaotic situations they never asked for, as ordinary intentions are derailed by unexpected quests, magical mishaps and unwanted attention.
Throughout the collection, everyday plans collide with demons, witches, werewolves and dragons. The stories begin in very different ways: one starts with saving a demon while drunk, another is triggered by a misthrown love potion, and a third moves from reflections on childhood tales into a hostage situation involving a dragon.
A woman hoping for a quiet life is thrown into danger after saving the demon Fallon during a wine-drunk moment. Fallon is determined to kill an evil witch who is enslaving his people, and she is pulled into the quest. The journey is far from what she wanted, even if it has occasional bright spots.
A thrown drink hits the wrong person and turns out to be a love potion. With a pirate ship full of demons newly arrived in town, she must also convince a werewolf that he is not her fated mate and is simply drugged. Matters become more difficult as he insists on staying close.
The narrator looks back on childhood stories of princesses trapped in towers and recalls how much she disliked them. The irony becomes real when she ends up in a similar position, held hostage by a dragon. In this situation, leaving is not an option.
