From Château Montaiguillon, the Montagne-Saint-Émilion 2021 is a red wine with a supple red-fruit character, showing notes of plums, blackcurrants and cherries. Good structure and ripe tannins bring balance, while the style is described as one that will age well.
The property sits in Montagne-Saint-Emilion, one of the satellite appellations of Saint-Emilion, positioned to the north-east of the town and looking down towards Saint-Emilion and Pomerol. Château Montaiguillon is owned and run by the Amart family and is presented as an excellent, traditionally run estate.
Montagne was created in 1973 when the towns of St Georges and Pairac were combined. The estate comprises 31 hectares of vineyard, producing around 180,000 bottles each year. At its heart is an ancient villa said to date from the fourth century, which some historians believe belonged to the poet Ausonius, who gave his name to Ausone.
