Doña Paula Altitude Series 969 Red 2021

From Doña Paula, the Altitude Series 969 Red 2021 is a red wine blend of Petit Verdot, Bonarda and Malbec, named for the average height of the selected parcels used in the wine. In the glass, it shows an intense violet colour with a black tint, while the nose layers Petit Verdot’s blueberries and jasmine with Bonarda’s pronounced blackberry and raspberry notes. Firm tannins and good volume shape the palate, with Malbec contributing attractive structure through to a long finish.

The fruit is sourced from Finca El Alto in Ugarteche, Luján de Cuyo. Petit Verdot is planted on the stoniest plots with the presence of calcium carbonate at 1030 metres above sea level, while Bonarda grows in the lowest part of the same vineyard at about 908 metres, where soils are clay-dominant with gravel and pebbles. The vineyard is drip irrigated, with warm days and cool nights, a thermal amplitude of 14°C and average annual rainfall of 250mm, and is managed using sustainable farming practices.
