El Enemigo describes itself as a romantic winery at heart. The concept began in September 2009, when Alejandro Vigil and Adrianna Catena walked back from the Argentine Embassy in London after Nicolas Catena received the Decanter Man of the Year Award. With Adrianna a historian and Alejandro a soils engineer, their shared love of philosophy, wine and history led them to create wines together in reflection of those interests. While rooted in tradition, El Enemigo does not follow the status quo.
