McHenry Hohnen Calgardup Brook Chardonnay 2018

From McHenry Hohnen, the Calgardup Brook Chardonnay 2018 is shaped by a vineyard set on the south side of the Calgardup Brook, just south of Witchcliffe. With a gentle northerly aspect and westerly influence, it reflects a site described as a very good vineyard, managed with a back-to-basics approach that embraces sustainable “Old School” practices used before the rise of intense agriculture.

On the nose, notes of oyster shell and frangipani lead into delicate nashi pear and nectarine. The palate shows complexity attributed to wild fermentation and extended time on lees, with a distinctive saline acidity and excellent length through the finish.
