The Little Women 4 Hardback Book Collection brings together four novels by Louisa May Alcott in a single set. Centred on the March family and those around them, these stories follow changing lives and relationships across childhood, adolescence and adulthood.

Beginning in New England against the backdrop of the Civil War, the collection traces the experiences of sisters Jo, Beth, Meg and Amy, whose different temperaments and interests are held together by family loyalty. Later books move on to life at Plumfield, a rural boarding school run by Jo and her husband, Mr Bhaer, where a houseful of children receive an unconventional education.

Synopses

Little Women

Set in New England during the Civil War, this novel chronicles the lives of sisters Jo, Beth, Meg and Amy. Different in temperament and interests, they are united by love for one another and their family as they struggle to survive and find their way in a changing world. The story explores love, friendship, class and gender struggles, shifting between light-hearted and serious moments.

Little Men

Two homeless boys from Boston arrive at Plumfield, a rural boarding school run by Jo and her husband, Mr Bhaer. From designated Saturday pillow fights to learning how to run a business, life at Plumfield offers an unconventional but effective education.

Jo's Boys

This book follows on from the March sisters’ earlier years, which are captured in Little Women and Good Wives. It continues after Little Men, where Jo marries Mr Bhaer and becomes caretaker to a houseful of lively children at Plumfield School.

Good Wives

Part two of Little Women, this coming-of-age novel follows Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth as life unfolds in different ways. It includes gentle love stories, humour, and the passing away of one of the sisters.
