Bernard Cornwell's Richard Sharpe's Series 16 to 20 brings together five novels following Richard Sharpe: soldier, hero and rogue. Born into poverty, he joins the army to escape jail and rises through the ranks through brutal courage. His only family is the regiment of the 95th Rifles, whose green jacket he wears with pride.

Set against the closing stages of the Napoleonic Wars and their aftermath, these stories place Sharpe in battles, investigations and political danger. From the bloodshed at Toulouse and the charge of stolen treasure, to threats from Whitehall and the chaos of Waterloo, Sharpe is repeatedly forced into high-stakes decisions where enemies are not always on the battlefield.

Synopses

Revenge

In 1814, Sharpe fights at Toulouse, a battle that becomes one of the war’s bloodiest conflicts. After triumph, he is accused of stealing Napoleon’s treasure and must uncover the enemy who has framed him, delivering an ingenious and devastating revenge.

Regiment

Sharpe returns to England to save his regiment from disbandment. With danger coming from Whitehall rather than France, he uncovers high-ranking traitors and is pushed into the most desperate gamble of his life, where even the Prince Regent’s influence may not be enough.

Waterloo

In 1815, Lieutenant-Colonel Sharpe serves on the staff of the Prince of Orange, whose refusal to heed warnings leaves disaster looming. As the Battle of Waterloo unfolds, Sharpe seizes command at a critical moment, turning the hardest and bloodiest battle of his career into a magnificent triumph.

Siege

During the invasion of France, the British Navy calls on Major Sharpe to help capture a fortress and secure a landing on the French coast. Abandoned in enemy territory through a commander’s incompetence, he faces overwhelming forces and must rely on a hostile American privateer.

Honour

Major Sharpe awaits the opening of the army’s campaign as Britain’s fragile alliance with Spain must be preserved at any cost. Pierre Ducos seeks to destroy the alliance and take personal revenge, and when the spy La Marquesa intervenes, Sharpe becomes trapped in political intrigue beyond his military expertise.
