Planteray O. F. T. D. is a navy-style overproof rum built from rums made in Barbados, Jamaica and Guyana, then bottled at a full 69% ABV. It was created to bring real weight and character to cocktails, but there is plenty of depth here too. Rather than relying on sheer strength alone, the blend pulls together different island styles for richness, structure and a distinctive dark, powerful profile

Flavour profile

You’ll find an intense nose of coffee, orange, plum, jam and truffle-like richness. The palate opens with caramel, chocolate and vanilla, then moves into cinnamon, raisins, nutmeg, oak, molasses and a smoky edge. It is concentrated and full-bodied, so a little goes a long way.

Good to know

This is a molasses-based blend made from pot and column still rums, with the final blend rested in wooden vat. It works especially well in classic serves where the rum needs to cut through cleanly, including a Zombie, Mai Tai or a carefully measured pour over ice.
