Why it stands out

Planteray Barbados 5 Years Rum is a double-aged Barbadian rum made from pot and column still distillates at Stade’s West Indies Rum Distillery. It spends three years in bourbon casks in Barbados, then a further two years in Ferrand casks in France, which gives it more shape and polish than a straightforward single-ageing rum.

Flavour profile

You get a rounded, gently layered style here: vanilla, caramel and tropical fruit sit alongside toasted marshmallow, pipe tobacco, black raisin and prune. The palate leans bittersweet and roasted, then turns toastier, with baked orchard fruit, resin and a chocolatey close.

Good to know

At 40% ABV, it has enough depth for sipping, but it is still versatile enough for classic rum serves. If you want an approachable aged Barbados rum with proper cask character and a clear sense of origin, this is a strong bottle to keep on hand.
