El Dorado 8 Year Old is a well-judged step into the richer side of the range, giving you more depth than a lighter gold rum while keeping the profile smooth and easy to return to. It is a Guyanese blended Demerara rum, laid down in oak barrels for at least eight years, with the rounded character that comes from tropical ageing and careful blending.

Flavour profile

In the glass, you can expect a nose of tobacco, caramel toffee and dried stone fruit, with a touch of flambéed banana. The palate is soft and faintly sweet, bringing oak and butterscotch into play without tipping too far into heavy sweetness. The result is a characterful aged rum that still feels balanced and composed.

Good to know

This is a blended rum rather than a single-still release, with El Dorado’s collection describing its aged rums as selections of different batches from different stills, all aged in oak barrels. At 40% ABV in a full-size 70cl bottle, it is an easy bottle to keep on hand for neat pours or measured classic cocktails.
