Synopses

Sword Song

Alfred urges him to swear loyalty to Edward, holding him back from vengeance for his stolen home at Bebbanburg. Uhtred must again defend the Christian kingdom, and encounters Skade, described as a killer and schemer with a dark power over men’s hearts.

Death of Kings

With Alfred said to be dying, rivals for the succession threaten to tear the kingdom apart and undo what has been built over thirty years. Uhtred longs to reclaim his Northumbrian inheritance, but knows that abandoning Alfred’s cause could end the king’s dream and imperil the future of the English nation.
