Synopses

Pryce of Conceit

In Colorado in 1885, Arabella Pryce can speak to the dead, a gift that becomes difficult to ignore when the living start turning up murdered. Left a grand frontier hotel in La Plata Springs by her late husband’s will, she has one clear aim: endure the year required to claim her inheritance and return to New York. Managing a hotel was never part of her plan, and neither was being drawn into a killing.

Pryce of Deceit

La Plata Springs, Colorado, 1885: Arabella is beginning to settle into her role as the reluctant owner of the Arabella Hotel. When her friend Eliza Swindon’s wedding day arrives, she expects a celebration. Instead, the groom is discovered dead in his carriage, with a mysterious calling card pinned to his lapel.

Pryce of Greed

A Winter Festival in La Plata Springs should be a unifying occasion, but it becomes something far darker. With the event written into her late husband’s will, Arabella finds herself responsible for hosting much of the town. Amid music, dancing and gossip, a prominent guest falls from a second-storey window.

Pryce of Ambition

Set in 1886, Arabella is still adjusting to life at the Arabella Hotel when a travelling theatre troupe arrives in town. The visit also brings her estranged mother, who is running the show. Before long, the troupe’s leading actor is found shot dead in the warehouse theatre.

Pryce of Pride

As Arabella nears the end of the year she agreed to manage the Arabella Hotel, she is focused on making it through the final weeks and returning to New York. The town’s Cultural and Historic Festival brings visiting historians, debate over sacred artefacts and a charged atmosphere. Then one of the guest scholars is found dead in his hotel suite.
