Finding your way around the night sky feels notably more straightforward with the Celestron StarSense Explorer DX 5-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. Combining a 125 mm aperture, 1250 mm focal length, f/10 optical system and a manual alt-azimuth mount, it pairs compact Schmidt-Cassegrain optics with app-guided navigation through your smartphone. For beginners in particular, the StarSense Explorer system offers a more direct route to locating celestial targets without relying on printed star charts or a computerised mount.

The telescope uses Celestron’s StarSense Explorer app and smartphone dock to analyse star patterns overhead and calculate the telescope’s position in real time. An ultra-stable mount with slip clutches and dual-axis slow-motion controls helps keep movements smooth while tracking objects across the sky. StarBright XLT coatings are applied to all air-to-glass surfaces, and the supplied 25 mm and 10 mm eyepieces provide 50x and 125x magnification respectively. A StarPointer red dot finderscope, 90 erect image diagonal and full-height adjustable tripod complete the setup.
